Statement of Personal Goals
During the first semester at TIU, I would like to develop my online instructional skills by working collaboratively with peers who have more knowledge and experience in the field of educational technology. Because of my lack of experience and skills in this area, it is critical to solicit ideas on different ways to present learning materials in meaningful ways to students. For example, I would like to seek from my peers some successful communicative online activities to develop students' reading and writing skills. At the same time, I plan to research and develop some of my own activities and try to engage students in the learning process. Hopefully, by the end of my first semester at GTI, I would not only have gained a higher comfort level with using educational technology, but also a new and effective teaching approach in an online environment.
After two years of experience working as a Global Teaching Fellow, it is my intention to contribute the resources and knowledge gained during that time. It is my firm belief that it is important for GTFs to share resources and leave behind a treasure trove for future peers in order for the institute to continuously evolve for the benefit of its students, its administrators, and academic professionals in the education industry. In short, my overall objective as a Global Teaching Fellow at Tokyo International University is to not only further develop myself as an academic professional, but to make valuable contributions to this institute and academia. At the same time, I hope to plant a seed in all of my students so they may be able to grow as successful global citizens who will strengthen relationships with other global citizens and further enrich our world community. Successful achievement of my objective will require initiative, commitment, and continuous dedication on my part, and I will make my best effort to do so while here at Tokyo International University. |
